THE R-RESIDENCE

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project deals with the reconstruction of an out-of-date three-story residence and a pool construction, in order to be reused as a three-bedroom residence. The plot is situated on the outskirts of Naoussa village, the second largest town on Paros Island. The residence is situated on the top of a small hill and on a plot of a total 3800sq.m. The residence is placed at the center of the plot, providing a privileged north view to Naoussa town picturesque harbor. The plot itself is characterized by a wedge-like outline with a north direction.

The residence extends on three levels, a ground level of 25sq.m, a first level of 92sq.m and a third level of 54 sq.m. A garden with pergolas and a new parking lot has been integrated with a direction to the sea view on the north. A re-allocation of the interior rooms has been implemented, with a new organization of a total of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a guest WC.

Having studied the characteristics of a parian building of 1980, with the triangular wall gaps that refer to pigeon-holes, the main objective has been to underscore the traditional architecture, by preserving the white cubic volumes that intermingle and comprise the residence. At the same time there have been certain interventions, such as azure green wooden pergolas, windows and doors, with a view to underscoring the fact that a renovation has redefined the residence.
